Dumplings. Dumplings. Dumplings. Everybody loves dumplings. You probably have tried/ will look for Wonton and Har Gow, but the northern Chinese dumplings (in cantonese: Gao Tsee 餃子)shall not be missed. Here is a good local restaurant that makes fantastic Gao Tsee.
Located in Prince Edward, Delicious Dumplings is locals’ favorite place for satisfying their cravings for dumplings. The eatery makes its fame with the invincible formula: big portion, great taste, good quality and cheap price.
The dumplings can easily be twice as big as those you usually find at other restaurants. For a whole plate of 10 dumplings, it is only $44. What makes customers impressed and loyal, though, is the fine quality that gives every bite extra yum and heartiness: Fresh ingredients fully packed in extra thin wrappers. The wood ear fungus, cabbage and pork dumplings are crunchy and of a refreshing sweet taste. Leek and pork dumplings are savory and rich. Put in some chili pickle reddish to spice it up!
All dumplings can be served pan-fried or boiled. While pan-frying might sound more exciting and does add extra crisp to the texture, the ultimate killer, surprisingly, has to be the boiled ones, as the true flavor is highlighted by the light broth. Even locals would be shocked first time trying the both. After all, it is far from the savory taste we would expect. Yet, any local can tell in the slightly sweet broth there is no MSG but loads of pure heart, which is a rare virtue nowadays that comforts our souls.
