LO COME PANCAKE
SINFULLY SAVORY PEKING DUCK PANCAKE

If you are craving something sinfully savoury, hop over to Lo Come Pancake on the corner of Tin Hau food Street for their versions of the classic Chinese pancakes – Jianbing (煎餅)! You can’t deny the power of young people as the owner opened the eatery at the age of 19 after having mastered the skills on his own for two years. Now he has captured the hearts of many foodies with his favourite recipes – one of which is the signature Peking Duck Pancake!

The Chinese pancakes resemble the French crepes but the crusty exterior makes all the difference. They would first pour the batter made out of green beans over a flat cast iron pan, then sprinkle a vast array of ingredients with a layer of sauce underneath and fold it into a thick triangle. The owner understands the curious souls so you can indeed sneak a glance at how it is made through a small hole in the window full of posters.

The burst of roasty flavours from the Peking Duck Pancake is no joke as they are very generous with the Peking duck strips and sauce. Added with lots of herbs and veggies that include cilantro, cucumber and scallion and drizzled with the Chinese crackers, this folded pancake offers another level of freshness and textures. The flavours are also surprisingly well-balanced despite being fully loaded. It can be really filling if you are not that much of a big eater so grab a friend to share the savoury goodness!

It does worth a try.
