KENG KEI NOODLE FACTORY
TREASURE IN CENTRAL LIVING CANTON NOODLE CULTURE

Canton noodles hold a special place in Hong Kong cuisine due to the locals' love for pairing various ingredients with noodles, such as wonton dumplings and beef brisket. A handmade noodle factory in the neighborhood is a valuable asset, and in the bustling Central area.

Situated in Peel Street next to the Graham Street Market, Keng Kei (勤記) is famous for its freshly made canton noodles in various flavour and texture. The current owner George took over the shop from the founding old couples who stepped down for retirement in recent years. The shop is of an open-door setting where you can watch how George produces the noodle-of-the-day all on his own.

George is a friendly man who enjoys sharing his story and knowledge. It's evident he takes great pleasure in making the noodles, as he passionately introduces them in detail and shares his favorite recipes with customers. This enthusiasm persists despite his daily commute from the New Territories to Central and the seemingly routine nature of his work.

He carries several signature handmade noodles and wonton skin, including shrimp-roe noodles (蝦子) and Shanghaiese noodles (上海麵). During Chinese new year, the shop will be full of crowd buying the noodles as gifts like the premium abalone noodles and all the products will sold out quickly.
