FU SHAN VIEWING POINT
THE ULTIMATE SUNSET DESTINATION

For those seeking picture-perfect scenery, the sunset at Tai O is unrivaled. Although the breathtaking view requires a short 15-minute hike to Fu Shan (虎山), or Tiger Mountain in Cantonese, the effort is well worth it. Here, you can immerse yourself in golden moments and catch glimpses of the renowned Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge.

To begin your adventure, start at the Tai O village. Ensure that you time your hike well in order to enjoy the sunset at its best. The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge is a prominent landmark visible from Fu Shan.

The concrete path is family-friendly and suitable for all ages, including children. For those who may be directionally challenged, rest assured that there are plenty of signs to guide you. Begin your journey at the Tai O Market and follow the "To Pavilion" signs until you reach the stairway. Enter through the small gate and make your way up. As you climb, the panoramic view of the South China Sea will gradually unfold before you. The blurred horizon where the sky meets the ocean, coupled with the pink-orange fences along the trail, creates a picturesque backdrop perfect for capturing memories.

At the viewing pavilion, you'll find the sunset to be truly spectacular. It's impossible to ignore the world's longest sea crossing in the background. The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge connects the three major cities of Hong Kong, Macau, and Zhuhai in the Pearl River Delta, reducing travel time to just an hour. Despite the Hong Kong government's $120 billion investment in hopes of spurring economic development and tourism, the bridge has faced criticism due to its low traffic rate. Additionally, concerns have been raised over the impact on the habitat of the White Dolphins in the area. This begs the question: Is the billion-dollar bridge merely another white elephant, and if so, who bears the responsibility?
